Set up your first MuChat automation in about ten minutes

This walkthrough takes you from a new account to a live automation that DMs your link to everyone who comments a keyword. You need an Instagram professional account (Business or Creator), since Instagram only opens its messaging API to those.

1. Create your account

Sign up with your email. There’s no card needed for the Free plan, which includes one channel and up to three live automations. DMs sent on Free carry a small “Sent with MuChat” line; paid plans remove it.

2. Connect Instagram

Connect your professional account through Instagram’s own login screen. MuChat asks only for the permissions automations need, and never sees your password. You can disconnect at any time from Settings.

3. Pick a template

Open Automations and choose “Auto-DM links from comments”. Templates come pre-filled, so the rest of the setup is mostly swapping in your own words and link.

4. Choose the post and keywords

• A specific post or reel: the automation runs only on the posts you pick.
• All posts or reels: any post can trigger it. Best for evergreen keywords like PRICE.
• The next post or reel you publish: the first post that gets a matching comment claims the automation. Handy when you set things up before publishing.
• Keywords: add one or two. Leave the list empty to respond to every comment.

5. Write the messages

Add a couple of public replies to rotate under comments, then write the opening DM with a button. After the tap, MuChat sends your main message with the link. Every link is tracked, so you’ll see clicks per automation.

6. Go live and test it

Set the automation live, then comment your keyword from a different account. You should see the public reply, then the DM. Once it works, publish your post and let it run. If more than one automation matches the same comment, the first match handles it, so keep keywords distinct across live automations.
